The Ex-HMAS Adelaide has been closed to diving since 9 July 2024 due to catastrophic structural failure of the aluminium superstructure and ongoing safety concerns. - A Structural Condition Report received November 2024 identified multiple very-high risk hazards, including structural instability, entrapment risks, guillotine hazards, and increased diving depth. - The January 2025 storm event has likely exacerbated the deterioration of the site. - An in-depth Structural Condition Report is required to: Assess the impacts of the January 2025 storm, Further investigate ongoing deterioration, and Inform discussions with the Federal Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) regarding the return of the Sea Dumping Permit and the future management of the site.
