Description
The State Government of Western Australia committed to extend the Joondalup Railway a further 7.5km northwards including the construction of a new station at the terminus. This new station shall be called Butler Station.
In addition to the additional 7.5Km of urban electrified railway, the Butler Extension Project includes the provision of track improvements to the Nowergup Yard as well as the Mandurah Yard.
The track work includes the installation of mainline 1 in 12 60kg turnouts and crossovers, as well as 1 in 10 60kg turnouts to facilitate train operations, as well as entry and exit from the Yards. In addition 1 in 10 41kg turnouts are required for stowage and the efficient movement of railcars within both the Nowergup and Mandurah Yards.
