Geotechnical Manager for the Airport Rail Link Project

1.1.1 The Public Transport Authority (PTA) has been charged with the preparation of a Project Definition Report for the Airport Rail Link (ARL), to serve the Perth Airport and surrounding suburbs. Planning for the Airport Rail Link project is currently underway, through the coordinated efforts of PTA, Department of Planning, Perth Airport Pty Ltd (PAPL), Main Roads WA (MRWA), Brookfield Rail and the relevant local authorities.
The current Airport Rail Link alignment (subject to route and station optimisation) spurs from Midland line east of Bayswater station running within median of the Tonkin Highway as far as Stanton Road. At a point near Stanton Road, the rail line dives before tunnelling under eastbound lanes of Tonkin Highway, the rail line then runs towards existing domestic airport site for a station central to the proposed business/industrial park – Airport West Station. From the Airport West Station, running directly towards a consolidated terminal, boring under the two main runways to an integrated station within the terminal area, the alignment then continues east-bound within a tunnel under the Forrestfield Rail Yards to a at grade station in the ‘High Wycombe’ area.
Significant features of the alignment will be the need to undertake the construction of tunnels under main runway using the tunnel boring method. The proposed alignment also includes underground station at a site to be determined Consolidated Airport Terminals.
The success applicant will work as part of an integrated PTA project team with specific focus on the Airport Rail Link Project. The success applicant will work under the direction of a Project Director to be appointed by PTA.
