Description

The works involve approximately 2km of metro highway duplication including earthworks, roadworks, new Bridge No 1758 over the freight railway, modifications to existing Bridge No 1147, minor structures, traffic management and miscellaneous works.

Pre-qualification: To be eligible to tender, Tenderers must be suitably prequalified for Roadworks Category R4 or higher, and must either be prequalified for, or engage a subcontractor who is prequalified with Bridgeworks Category B3 or higher in accordance with the National Prequalification System for Civil (Road and Bridge) Construction Contracts.

National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry and the Building Code: The National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry, in conjunction with the Building Code 2013, applies to this project. The Building Code document is available at employment.gov.au/building-code.

Australian Government Building and Construction WHS Accreditation Scheme: It is a requirement of this project that any person contracted to undertake the building work be accredited under the Australian Government Building and Construction WHS Accreditation Scheme established by the Building and Construction Industry Improvement Act 2005, at the time of the Tender closing for the building work and while the building work is being carried out.

Tenderers intending to submit a bid as a Joint Venture must review the additional requirements as outlined by Regulation 24(1)(h) of the Fair Work (Building Industry – Accreditation Scheme) Regulations 2005 by the Federal Safety Commission (located at http://www.fsc.gov.au).

Pre-Tender Briefing: A non-mandatory pre-tender briefing will be held on 16 September 2015 commencing at 10.30am at the Don Aitken Centre. The purpose of the pre-tender briefing will be to outline and clarify the basis and details of the proposed Works. Only those tenderers prequalified to the relevant categories will be admitted to the briefing.

It will be essential that Tenderers witness the site to ensure they are aware of the condition of all elements of the site and the quality and location of any principal supplied materials to be used as part of the works.
