Description
- The Rural City of Murray Bridge (theCouncil) invites tenders prequalified with the Department of Planning, Transport and infrastructure (DPTI) for category R2, F15 Roadworks from Tenderers for the construction of the Thomas Foods International (TFI) Access Road at Murray Bridge (the Works). The Council will enter into a works contract (Works Contract) for the Works with the successful Tenderer.
- TFI have announced its commitment to construct a new $200M abattoir at a location approximately 6 kilometres north of Murray Bridge. The new abattoir will employ up to 2,000 staff and will use higher productivity freight vehicles to serve the transport requirements for goods at this site. Construction of the facility is indicated to commence in the first half of 2020. A new road is proposed to provide safe access for staff and the high productivity vehicles from the new site to the Mannum – Murray Bridge Road (RN7620).
- The Works consists of a new junction on the Mannum – Murray Bridge Road with an associated link road – approximately 3 kilometres long – to the proposed abattoir site.
- The planning, design and construction of the access road is a co-funded commitment by the Commonwealth and State governments.
