Description

In accordance with Section 23 of the the Taxi and Luxury Hire Car Industries Act 2008, the Transport Commission is required to make additional owner-operator taxi licences available in all Tasmanian taxi areas. The number of licences offered in each taxi area is equivalent to 5% of the total number of perpetual taxi licences and owner-operator taxi licences currently on issue in the relevant taxi area. The licences are offered for sale by tender. In accordance with Section 23(3) of the Act, the Transport Commission must not accept a tender that is less than the Reserve Price for a licence in any particular taxi area. These licences must be operated by the holder of licence and cannot be leased or assigned. They may be cancelled or suspended in prescribed circumstances.
