Teachers' Resource Kit about the Arab World for use in Australian Schools
Details
Description
The contractor will be required to develop and produce the Resource Kit in consultation with the Council for Australian-Arab Relations Secretariat in DFAT.The Resource Kit should target the middle secondary school level (Years 8-10).It should aim to sit within the curricula of government and non-government schools in all Australian states and territories. It will need to be officially sanctioned by the appropriate educational authorities in each jurisdiction and should therefore be adaptable to the widest common educational framework.
The Resource Kit should be tailored to take advantage of the main Australian curriculum opportunities that exist for studying aspects of the Arab world, rather than try to present an overview of Arab life and culture. The content of the Resource Kit will focus on people, environment, economy and culture in the Arab region. The Resource Kit should target the ‘Society and Environment’ key learning area of the various Australian state and territory curricula, and the humanities areas of: history; geography, environmental studies and resources; religious studies and values studies; politics, legal studies, civics and citizenship; culture; and commerce and trade.
