Production of the Indigenous Training DVD for 2011 Census of Population and Housing

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is Australia's official statistical agency. The ABS will be conducting the sixteenth national Census of Population and Housing in August 2011.
An essential part of the Census field operation is the training of up to 40,000 temporary mainstream and Indigenous field staff. There is a mix of experience with some new staff and some who have worked on the Census before.
A quality Census helps make for quality decisions both in Government and the private sector. The success of the Census is largely dependent on the quality of the job undertaken in the field. Training of the field staff is critical to this success.
Management and field procedures are well documented in a series of manuals issued to field staff. The procedures are also explained in face-to-face training using set modules which will be reinforced using the Indigenous DVD segments.
The successful tenderer will need to work closely with the ABS to ensure timetables are met and the outcomes from the project are delivered to the required specifications.
In support of the Indigenous enumeration strategy for the 2011 Census an Indigenous training DVD has been planned to provide training support material for all levels of field staff.
The script to be used is based on the updated and tested procedures presented in the manuals and training guides.
The Indigenous training DVD will be used to train field staff for the 2011 Census of Population and Housing. The staff will range from temporary staff with little or no experience in the Census environment to permanent ABS staff that are working in the Census Management Units (CMUs) around Australia.
