Panel Contract for Third Party Certification Assessments for WA Fisheries - Refresh

The Department of Fisheries (DoF) established a Panel Contract in 2013 which expired in September 2017.The Department of Primary Industry and Regional Development (DPIRD) released a Request to market in August 2017 to establish a replacement Panel of Contractors to undertake the requirements of this Request. DPIRD now requires additional Contractors to join that Panel.and continue the programme of third party sustainability certification for Western Australia’s commercial fisheries.

The Contract Authorityrequires suitably qualified and accredited Conformity Assessment Bodies to undertake Full Assessments (as defined by the MSC) and the first surveillance audit on WA’s fisheries. The Contract Authorityhas identified more than 35 individual fisheries which may require MSC Full Assessment and for which a Panel of Contractors is intended to be established. Since a decision to seek full certification requires a voluntary decision from a fishery’s licence holders, not all fisheries may be certified.

Pre and Full Assessments may also be sought for Aquaculture Stewardship (ASC) certification.
