Provision of Mustering and Removal of Wild Stock (Cattle) from QPWS Managed Areas within South Queensland Region

The Department of Environment and Science (DES) is inviting Expresion of Interest (EOI) from experienced individuals or companies to muster, yard, care for and remove wild stock (cattle) from QPWS Managed Areas of Kroombit Tops National Park (KTNP) / South East Queensland Region, so that cattle numbers in these areas can be substantially reduced allowing other methods of integrated control to occur.
The contractor will be entitled to:
• claim ownership of the stock not lawfully identified and claimed by a third party;
• dispose of said stock as the Offeror determines (Any use of firearms will require separate QPWS Approvals and carcase disposal requirements);
• retain any proceeds or profits from the disposal of the cattle, other than stock clearly identified or claimable as belonging to others.
The Department of Environment and Science will have no obligation to reimburse the any cost incurred in undertaking the above activities.

The objectives and anticipated deliverables for this EOI are to:
• to achieve a sustained reduction of the current population density;
• to co-operatively implement control measures with neighbours;
• to ensure highest levels of animal welfare protocols are integrated in all facets of cattle control operations; and
• to implement a program to monitor the effectiveness of the control measures.
