Augmentation of Bicheno Town Water Supply - Assessment of Options in an Integrated Water Cycle Management Planning Framework

The Department of Primary Industries and Water (DPIW), in consultation with the Glamorgan Spring Bay Council, wishes to commission a consultancy to identify the best option(s) for providing a source of water to augment the Bicheno town water supply. The consultancy is required to investigate and deliver a report which: Sets an appropriate level of service for the future supply of town water for Bicheno following consultation with key stakeholders, including the minimum acceptable service level in regard to water quantity and supply risk. Provides an assessment of the foreseeable water supply needs of Bicheno and adjacent areas which are, or could feasibly be, in the area supplied by the reticulated town water supply and the likely rate of increase of the water needs, to meet the above level of service; Provides an assessment of the likely impacts of climate variability, climate change and catchment land use changes on the water availability and reliability of the current surface water source; Provides an assessment of all reasonable supply and demand options for meeting the set level of service for the foreseeable future, including order of magnitude cost estimates for any options for supply augmentation that are deemed feasible; Identifies the “best” option(s) for augmenting the water supply to meet the 10 and 20 year needs; Provides a costing for the best option(s) and identifies the next steps to be taken to implement the best option(s).
