Description

The Western Australian Meat Industry Authority, an independent government statutory agency established under the Western Australian Meat Industry Authority Act 1976, owns and operates the Muchea Livestock Centre (MLC). MLC is a saleyard facility for weekly cattle and sheep sales and at times serves as holding yards for transhipment livestock.

Mandatory electronic identification for sheep and goats will be implemented in all Australian states from 1 January 2025. This requires equipment to be installed within the current sheep operating environment of MLC that will allow individual sheep and goat electronic identification tags to be read and recorded in MLC’s saleyard software system.
