SIHI Stream 6 - Residential Aged and Dementia Care Investment Program
Details
Description
The Building Capacity to Support Ageing in the Community Initiative under Stream 6 has been designed to achieve the following objectives:
- Attract suitable organisations, including aged care providers, community organisations and local government to develop services that will improve the quality of life and/or support to older people within the SIHI catchment area.
- Promote service sustainability in rural and remote areas by encouraging pooling of resources, working together with other care providers and the private sector to expand existing services and bid for additional funding and services
- Enable residents with dementia to receive improved standard of care enabling them to stay within the facility instead of being discharged to regional dementia specific facilities
- Assist private and not-for-profit residential aged care providers to enhance, expand or improve current service delivery within their own facilities that will support innovative residential aged and dementia care models
- Improve the living and service environments within existing residential care facilities to promote quality of lifestyle for residents
- Enhance and or develop age friendly communities to enable people to stay and age in place in their communities by building sustainable capacity within local communities
Innovative solutions are being sought to support older people to remain functionally and socially independent and engaged in their regional communities, including access to contemporary residential care support.
The above objectives could be achieved by the following (but not limited to):
- Age appropriate accommodation as part of age friendly communities
- Improvements, upgrades and or extensions to existing residential care facilities
- Building capacity for residential dementia care, including respite
SIHI is seeking applications from eligible organisations to apply for one-off grants (non-recurrent) which are aimed at supporting older people within their regional communities.
