Provision of Transcription Services for Western Australia Police

Western Australia Police (WA Police, the Customer or the Accountable Authority) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Contractor to provide state-wide transcription services.

The Evidence Act (1906), Section 106, provides that WA Police is required to develop specialist (recorded) interviews transcripts with children and vulnerable adults within the justice process. These transcripts form part of the investigation process of the WA Police and are used in court proceedings.

The state-wide work volumes for transcription services in the 2016/2017financial year were:

• 789 child interviews;

• 17,400 Pages; and

• Median transcription of 20 pages.

The Child Abuse Squad will be the main user of the proposed Contract; however services may be required by other divisions and/or areas of the WA Police throughout the term of the Contract.

WA Police intends to appoint a single service provider to provide these transcription services. The Contractor will provide as directed, a service to produce accurate transcripts of recordings to the satisfaction of, and in the time required by the Customer.

WA Police is seeking offers for transcription services that will:

• Produce accurate, quality transcripts in a confidential manner;

• Streamline and improve transcription service delivery throughout WA Police; and

• Comply with relevant WA Police policies and State legislation.
