Description

The Department of Health and Ageing is seeking tenders from capable and experienced organisations to provide evaluation of major submissions made to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC), usually from pharmaceutical manufacturers, of pharmaceutical products proposed for listing on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.The evaluations involve analysis and review of complex clinical and economic data, including modelled analyses.

The primary task of the selected group(s) will be to evaluate and prepare high quality commentaries on a number of major submissions allocated to the group.The work is cyclical and has to be completed within a tight, strictly adhered to timeframe corresponding to each PBAC meeting, which are held every four months.The number of major submissions received for each PBAC meeting is variable but it is envisaged that selected consultancy group(s) will each evaluate between four and six submissions as a minimum for each PBAC meeting.

The selected group(s) will also assist in the further development of the evaluation process and technical input into the ongoing revision of the “Guidelines for preparing submissions to the PBAC Version 4.2”at http://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/Content/pbacguidelines-index

Group(s) submitting proposals should demonstrate their relevant experience and technical skills in all the following areas:

epidemiology;

biostatistics;

health economics; and

clinical medicine.
