Provision of Bushfire Management Consultancy Services

The Capital Works and Maintenance branch is responsible for requesting modular building installations by the Department of Finance, Building Management and Works as a result of accommodation shortfalls created by increased enrolments within a local intake area or if a building is in a sub-standard condition. If the preferred location for the installation of a modular building falls within a Department of Fire and Emergency Services bushfire prone area, then a Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) assessment report and/or a Bushfire Management Plan (BMP) is required.

A suitably accredited Bushfire Management Assessor will be required to prepare BAL assessments, contour maps and BMP’s (when required) and have knowledge of all aspects of fire prevention requirements within Western Australia. It is critical that accredited Bushfire Management Assessors demonstrate the following:

• comprehensive knowledge for BAL assessment reports as per AS 3959-2009 Standard;

• experience with government processes and government clients on BAL matters; and

• the ability to provide high level advice on BAL matters.

As a requirement of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, this contract will enable the Department of Education to engage consultancy services to meet State Planning Policy 3.7 which refers to Planning in Bushfire Prone Areas.

The Customer may appoint one (1) or more Contractors to a panel to meet this need.
