Australian Government Department of Home Affairs
Provision of construction services to support the SmartGate implementation at Darwin International Airport
Details
Description
The Australian Department of Home Affairs (the Department) including its operational arm, the Australian Border Force (ABF), is seeking to enhance its automated border processing capability for incoming passengers arriving in Australia. The Department will build on the experience gained over the last fourteen (14) years with the current Arrivals and Departures SmartGate (SG) solutions, to implement a newer, more advanced biometric processing capability in international airports around the nation, replacing the existing first generation SGs, with the 3rd iteration of this technology.
Home Affairs is proposing to reconfigure eight existing arrivals halls precincts in international airports around Australia and implement a new automated SG solution under the IDEMIA Life Extension Project (SmartGate Gen 3 Project) initiative. This will replace the existing SG solution.
As part of this upgrade initiative, the Department requires physical development and implementation to support the technology, ranging from the provision of electrical and data services, floor finishes, ceiling modifications, installation of metal fixtures and minor building and structural work. The proposed work at Darwin International Airport (DIA) is the subject of this Request for Tender (RFT).
