CN0557 – SWEP Channel Lining & Pipeline Construction WW2024

LMW is seeking to engage suitably qualified civil construction contractors for the installation of channel lining and pipelines as part of the LMW Sunraysia Water Efficiency Project.

SWEP Project Overview

The SWEP is a $37.9 million program of works to improve the efficiency and longevity of the channel network in the Mildura, Red Cliffs and Merbein districts through undertaking works to reduce losses and remove redundant assets.

The scope of works includes lining channels, replacing channels with pipelines, rationalising redundant meter outlets, and installing new flowmeters on stock and domestic services.

Construction works on the project started in 2023 and will be completed over a two-year period.

Tender Specific Information

LMW is seeking to engage suitably experienced contractors to complete channel lining and pipeline works for Winter Works 2024 (WW2024). The works have been divided into eight packages:

  • Package 1(a&b) Merbein Wargan Channel A total of 6.6km of re-shaping the existing clay channel and installing a HDPE liner in the earthern Merbein Wargan Channel
  • Package 2 Mildura K Channels (Part 1) A total of 2.4km of lining in Mildura concrete K Channel Pools (Sandilong and K Extension)
  • Package 3 Mildura K Channels (Part 2) A total of 2.6km of lining in Mildura concrete K Channel Pools (Tex Pearts and Dow A-upstream Coorong)
  • Package 4 Mildura K Channels (Part 3) A total of 3.1km of lining in Mildura concrete K Channel Pools (Irymple South, and Dow B-downstream Coorong)
  • Package 5 Mildura L Channels (Part 1) A total of 2.8km of lining in Mildura concrete L Channel (Bakers and Tankards)
  • Package 6 Mildura L Channels (Part 2) A total of 2.5km lining in Mildura L Channel (92 Foot, Fifth St and L Extension)
  • Package 7 Nichols Point Pipeline Installation of 1.1km of DN1200-1000 HDPE (PE100) twin pipeline including install of concrete inlet/outlet structures and channel control infrastructure, and reinstating connections to existing spurlines and customer outlets.
  • Package 8 Merbein Knifes Edge Pipeline Installation of a 105m DN900 HDPE (PE100) pipeline, including concrete inlet/outlet structures and decommissioning of 270m of existing channel.

LMW intends to execute separate contracts with successful tenderers for each individual package of works.

The scope of the works will generally include but not be limited to the following:

  • Provision of all necessary plant, equipment, labour, amenities and materials (other than those supplied by the Principal)
  • Dewatering and desilting of existing channels
  • Clearing of vegetation
  • Earthworks
  • Concrete works to the existing channels
  • Installation of LMW supplied channel liner materials
  • Installation of LMW supplied pipeline and fittings materials
  • Installation of escape ladders and signage
  • Supply and installation of fencing and gates
  • Supply and operation of temporary pumping equipment, where required
  • Quality assurance and reporting

Project Timeline

The works are to be delivered from April to September 2024, with in-channel works to be undertaken using shutdowns from late May through early August.
