SRM-LMT002 and SRM-MTN036 Rising Mains

Unitywater invites Offers to design and contract two (2) new rising mains at Nicklin Way, Caloundra (SPS-LMT002 Rising Main) and Kawana Way, Kawana Island (SPS-MTN036 Rising Main).

The Works under Contract (WUC) consist of two separate pipelines for:

SRM-LMT002 Rising Main

These works are part of a series of works to facilitate the upgrade of the Caloundra Sewage Transport System (CSTS) servicing the greater Caloundra area.

As part of the overall upgrade strategy for the CSTS, there was a need identified to increase the capacity of the current pump station SPS-LMT001 by constructing a new pump station SPS-LMT002 (under separate contract) at the same site. In association with this capacity upgrade, a new higher capacity rising main is required from SPS-LMT002 to a connection point immediately south of Beerburrum Rd, where it connects to the existing common rising main of the CSTS.

The new rising main is to be largely parallel to the existing SPS-LMT001 rising main (to stay in commission as a backup main), however has a different vertical profile with four sections to be constructed via trenchless methods.

SRM-MTN036 Rising Main

Unitywater has a strategy to transfer sewage flows from the southern area of Buderim and the neighbouring areas of Mountain Creek and Sippy Downs to the Kawana Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).

It is proposed that SPS MTN008 and MRD029 would ultimately be transferred to the site of SPS MTN036 with a new SPS MTN001 constructed at this location as part of a separate contract. Common to each of these diversions is the need to construct a new rising main from the site of the existing SPS MTN036 to the Kawana STP. As part of a development requirement a section of this new rising main was constructed through what is known as the Brightwater estate. The pipeline installed is a OD710 PE100 PN16 pipe.

The new rising main will run from a new connection to the existing DN710 PE main at the southern end of the sports ground at Cordyline Place, Mountain Creek to the Kawana STP inlet works. The pipeline includes two water crossings of the Mooloolah River and the Wyuna Canal, and three other trenchless road crossings.
