Description

The Shark Control Program (the Program) is a public safety initiative of Government and has been operating in Queensland since 1962. The Program is currently in place at 86 of Queensland’s most popular beaches, (providing a safer swimming environment for residents and tourists), using both baited drum lines and nets. There are 383 drum lines positioned off the coast of Queensland which require bait (Sea Mullet and Shark meat).

As part of the Program, the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries has the ongoing need for the supply of Whole Sea Mullet and Shark Meat (Bait). The bait is to be frozen and of a high quality (fit for human consumption). It is expected that each of the Shark Fishing Contractor locations located between the Gold Coast and Cairns will require orders 2 to 4 times per year, these orders will be coordinated by the Local Shark Liaison Officer or District Officer/Manager, Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol.

The 9 locations (3 regions) that require supply are as follows:

Northern:

Cairns, Townsville

Central:

Mackay, Gladstone,

Rosslyn Bay

Southern:

Nth Stradbroke Island
