Water Network Cast Iron Parts Replacements

Unitywater invites tenders from suitably qualified suppliers for the delivery of the Cast Iron Parts Replacement Program on the Water Network between Redcliffe and Noosa.

The Cast Iron (CI) replacement program consists of replacing Fire Hydrants (FH’s) and Valves mainly on the retic water network. The older unlined CI fittings will ‘choke up’ with encrustations resulting in FH’s not meeting satisfactory pressure and flow requirements for fire fighting purposes, valves becoming non operational and an increased iron content in the water supply, discoloration and potentially a compromise in the water quality delivered to customers.
