Description

The Contract shall include the supply of all plant, equipment, labour and material necessary for the execution of the whole of the Works required for the replacement of the NW Fairway and Pinkenba Sarus Towers in accordance with this Specification, Particular and General Conditions of Contract and the Drawings.


The Contract has two major items of work. These are as follows:


PART A – REPLACE PINKENBA SARUS TOWER WITH 356mm DRIVEN PILE


The existing Pinkenba Sarus Tower is to be replaced with a 356mm driven pile at the location specified on the drawings. The scope of works for the driven 356mm diameter pile is as follows:


1. Removal of existing Pinkenba Sarus Tower and stockpile at Pinkenba Marine Operations Base for storage
2. Supply and fabricate 356mm diameter x 12.7mm thick 350 Grade steel pile to the required lengths for the beacon (including 12m length of contingency pile)
3. Supply and fabricate the weld-on pile cap
4. Transport all port lateral beacon components to the installation site
5. Handle, pitch and drive 356mm diameter pile at the specified location
6. Cut and trim piles to correct cut-off height and install weld-on pile cap to the beacon
7. Supply and install the corrosion protection wrap system for the pile cap (PCS Steelgard Series 100 or approved equivalent)
8. Supply and install corrosion protection wrap system for the pile protection system (PCS Steelgard Series 100 or approved equivalent)
9. Supply, fabricate and install 1400mm diameter Aluminium work platform to the pile
10. Supply, fabricate and install lamp stand to platform including gasket
11. Supply, fabricate and install galvanised steel ladder to the beacon complete with clamps to the orientation as shown on the drawings
12. Supply, fabricate and install a port lateral daymark complete with platform mounted daymark frame to the Beacon
13. Supply all fasteners including aluminium bolts, U-bolts, nuts and washers; grade 316 stainless steel bolts, nuts and washers; galvanised mild steel bolts, nuts and washers, insulations products; nylon shoulder/washers
14. If required, site splice weld on contingency pile length to partially driven pile and carry out non-destructive weld testing (provisional)


PART B – REPLACE NW FAIRWAY SARUS TOWER WITH STORED SARUS TOWER


The existing NW Fairway Sarus Tower Daymark is to be replaced with the large Sarus tower that is stored at the Pinkenba Marine Operations Base. This stockpiled Sarus Tower has been weather affected and requires refurbishment prior to being installed. The scope of works is as follows:


1. Removal of existing NW Sarus Tower, transport and stockpile at Pinkenba Marine Operations Base
2. Strip components, abrasive blast and repaint the Principal Supplied replacement Sarus Tower that is currently stored at Pinkenba Marine Operations Base.
3. Identify corroded sections and replace with welded replacement sections.
4. Repaint replacement Sarus tower in accordance with this Specification
5. Clean and install the Principal Supplied aluminium anodes and galvanised safety chains
6. Pressure test the buoyancy chamber on the replacement NW2 Sarus Tower and forward the results to the Superintendent
7. Clean and repaint the Principal Supplied Daymark. Refit daymark and other beacon componentry including but not limited to ladder, ladder clamps, and ladder step plate and replace all bolts and washers.
8. Following acceptance of the refurbished works of the Principal Supplied replacement Sarus Tower by the Superintendent, reinstall the Sarus Tower at the specified location
9. If required/directed, supply new beacon componentry
