Ferry Passenger Commuting Services

Rottnest Island Authority (RIA) requires the provision of daily ferry commuter service to and from Rottnest Island (the Services). The Services are required to run 7 days per week, 365 days per year, inclusive of public holidays and must be accommodated during all seasons.

The Services should also allow for ad-hoc inclusions to meet project and operational requirements, as well as seasonal uplift in commuter numbers during summer months (estimated December to February each annum).

Users will include RIA Commuters and Rottnest Island Resident Commuters. Each annum, there are approximately 40,000 one-way travel journeys. However, this varies depending on operational and project requirements, and RIA makes no guarantee of a minimum number of commuter journeys over the Contract Term. RIA Commuters and Rottnest Island Resident Commuters will be free to select the commuter service of their choice from the Panel.

Through this proposed Contract, RIA seeks to establish a Panel of suitability qualified contractors to provide ferry passenger commuter services to and from Rottnest Island. The Contract will be structured in two categories:

1. Category 1: Fremantle Service; and
2. Category 2: Hillarys Service.
