Description

The Queensland Government - Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced supplier to develop regional transformation strategies and implementation plans in consultation with the communities initially for each of the following three regions:

  • Greater Whitsunday
  • Central Queensland
  • Darling Downs, South West and South Burnett

which DSDILGP is reponsible for delivering.

Summary of Opportunity - As part of the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan (QEJP) released in September 2022, the Queensland Government has committed to deliver a $200 million Regional Economic Future Fund (REFF) which aims to support affected communities seize the industry development opportunities presented by global decarbonisation.

DSDILGP recently produced a transition strategy and implementation plan for North West Queensland and, as such, this region is out of scope for the supplier. The North West Queensland documents provide a guide to what is required for the above three regions (although the supplier should not feel constrained to adopt this format), and are available to view online:

Regional Consultaion will be critical for this engagment, whiich is expected to include regional workshops, one-0n-one interviews (online), and the delivery of an online survey.

A strong governance structure has been developed to oversee the delivery of the REFF funding, which will be allocated to projects that have been identified through regional consultation to best support the region’s economy over the long term, creating long-term sustainable jobs and stronger, diverse economies.
