Provision of Communications Tower Structural Engineering Services

In 2011, WA Police commenced the Regional Radio Network Project to deploy a digital radio network to upgrade the existing analogue radio system in Regional Western Australia.

The project is currently deploying radio repeater and point-to-point microwave linking infrastructure to new and existing communications towers at approximately 260 sites throughout WA.

The antenna and microwave network topology varies according to the following:

• Availability of existing suitable structures;
• Land owner/council guidance;
• Carrier approvals; and
• The quantity and type of microwave and antenna to be implemented.

The majority of the towers identified as part of ongoing network design verification require structural assessment to firstly, determine capability to support the microwave dishes and antenna equipment and secondly, engineer and design certified mounts and structural tower upgrades as required.

Many of the existing WA Police sites have been in service for over 30 years and require structural assessment, engineering services and maintenance upgrade.
