WA Department of Mines and Petroleum
Corporate Website Design
Details
Description
The Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) is the State’s lead agency in attracting private investment in resources exploration and development through the provision of geoscientific information on minerals and energy resources. Achievement of this role is, to a large extent, facilitated online via the DMP’s website.
The current website architecture was constructed a number of years ago within the Department of Industry and Resources. Since that time, the department has undergone significant change, particularly in its transition to the DMP. There are issues with managing the consistency of messages and visual elements on the site and pages are generally over-crowded and are difficult to navigate. Feedback received suggests the site does not cater for all DMP stakeholders. In addition, it does not fully comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0).
The DMP wishes to redevelop its website design to improve ease-of-use, effectiveness, and more closely meet the needs of stakeholders.
