Provision of Market Research Services for the Forrestfield - Airport Link

Forrestfield-Airport Link (the project) is a $2billion State Government project to deliver a new rail line to the foothills. The project is in the planning and detailed design phase until 2016 at which time construction is expected to begin. The Project comprises a new rail line from the Midland Line to a new terminus at Forrestfield as well as a station at the Airport West (DA6 site) and Consolidated Airport. The project is due for completion in 2020.

Ensuring the public and key stakeholders are aware and approve of the project, recognise its importance in connecting the Eastern Suburbs and Airport with a new rail line and understand the implications on their journey during construction is extremely important. Future passengers and key stakeholders awareness of the construction, project benefits and changes to their journeys once complete are also vital feedback elements.

Market research is a key element in measuring effectiveness of communications, sentiment toward the project and operations once construction begins and to contribute to passenger modelling. Market research will allow key communications activities to be modified to better cater for gaps in knowledge and incorporate public needs or wants regarding the project delivery.

The Consultant will be required to provide market research services as a key method of measuring the awareness and acceptance levels of the project in the community both for those directly affected (ie along the line) and the general public.
