Australian Government Department of Defence
Provision of Scheme Water Supply to West and South Bullsbrook
Details
Description
The Department of Defence (Defence) explored a range of options to address water supply needs for residents in West and South Bullsbrook, where restrictions exist on the use of water extracted from private residential bores due to the presence of poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in local groundwater.
After investigating alternative sources of potable water supply to address restrictions within the PFAS management area around RAAF Base Pearce, Defence determined that the provision of Water Corporation produced scheme water to affected residents to be the most suitable option. The provision of scheme water complements the management and remediation solutions on and around the Base.
The works will facilitate approximately 188 residential lots in West Bullsbrook to receive a metered, potable water service from the new Water Corporation (WC) water main allowing for reticulation within the private properties to serve domestic residences and living quarters in the RAAF Base Pearce PFAS Management Area in Bullsbrook, Western Australia.
