Arts SA
To own and operate the Southern Cross replica aircraft
Details
Description
The SA Government, through Arts SA, is seeking expressions of interest from organisations interested in owning and operating the Southern Cross replica aircraft for the benefit of the South Australian public.
The Southern Cross replica aircraft was built in South Australia in 1988 and has been operating in South Australia since the Commonwealth Government gifted it to the SA Government in 1999. The aircraft crash-landed at Parafield Airport on 25 May 2002 sustaining damage to a wing and two propellers.
The SA Government is now wishing to gift the aircraft to a not-for-profit community organisation on condition that the aircraft is repaired to airworthiness test licence standards, that it will be owned and operated from South Australia, and that it flies regularly in South Australian skies. Applicants will need to provide evidence of the financial viability of their organisation and their ability to repair and operate the aircraft successfully in accordance with the requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. The SA Government will provide once-off funding to assist with the repair of the aircraft.
Enquiries, inspection requests and guidance for applicants will be provided by Mr Jeff Andary, Director, Lead Agencies, Arts SA. [phone hidden].
