Description

The AER has a requirement under rule 172 of the National Energy Retail Rules to establish and maintain a CCG. The CCG advises the AER on key energy issues and provides an opportunity for the views of member’s constituents to be considered and reflected in the AER’s work. The CCG focuses on issues facing residential household and small business consumers, particularly those related to our functions under the National Energy Retail Law (Retail Law) and National Energy Retail Rules.

Membership on the CCG provides the opportunity to advise us on key energy consumer issues in a collaborative environment alongside other consumer representatives. We aim to achieve a balance and variety of interests and perspectives among the membership and encourage both national and state-based consumer representatives to apply.

The CCG typically consists of 10-12 CCG members, chosen to reflect the diverse interests of energy consumers in the National Energy Market.
