Description

The ANZAC Centenary Advisory Board wishes to engage a consultant to deliver a Business Plan ('the Plan') for a national touring exhibition to travel throughout Australia over the four years of the Centenary, from late 2014 to end 2018.

Goals for a national touring exhibition include:

·Achieve a wide reach into regional and remote areas of Australia across all States and Territories, rather than capital cities;

·Offer an opportunity for communities to develop a 'personalised', grass roots experience of the Centenary, and something to remember;

·Use of the ANZAC History Wall as a centre piece of the exhibition, in place of a more traditional option of touring a substantial collection of museum objects, which is not feasible for regional and remote access;

·Make maximum use of new technologies and internet to make more content available in new ways;

·Create opportunities for local community/ school group engagement when the tour visits;

·Offer opportunities for additional public programs associated with the tour;

·Offer a 'human' presence for the exhibition in addition to the ANZAC History Wall; and

·Based on Memorial advice, explore the feasibility of including a small selection of collection items as part of the tour, and/or provide some facility whereby communities can see a small range of collection items, perhaps arranged as special 'curator' visits.

We are seeking an operationally and financially robust concept, with alternative options where necessary, for a traveling exhibition which will provide a significant and positive commemorative experience for communities in regional and rural Australia. The exhibition must be of sufficient quality to constitute one of the flagship initiatives in the commemoration of the Centenary of Anzac. The concept needs to be provided in sufficient detail to permit, first, the necessary policy and resourcing decisions to be taken by government and, second, a fully fleshed out operational plan to be confidently developed.
