Medical Officers for State-Wide Medical Coordination and Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medical Services

The Queensland Government is seeking Proposals for Medical Officers for State-Wide Medical Coordination and Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medical Services.

Queensland’s fixed wing and rotary wing aeromedical network provides for safe, timely and coordinated Retrieval and transfer of Patients to and between hospital facilities and from a pre-hospital site to a health facility (Primary Retrievals) across the State. Along with other forms of Patient transport (such as road and air ambulance), these services facilitate equity of access to medical treatment for people living in rural and remote Queensland.

All Queensland aeromedical and other Retrieval Patient movements are coordinated by Retrieval Services Queensland (RSQ). RSQ is responsible for Medical Coordination for the Retrieval and transfer of all Patients from parts of northern New South Wales to the Torres Strait. Specialist medical and nursing coordinators in paediatric, neonatal and high risk obstetrics, also support the Medical Coordination of these Patients by road in metropolitan areas of Queensland.

This RFO seeks to establish a supply of Medical Officers for Medical Coordination and Pre-Hospital and Retrieval to support RSQ’s existing service delivery.

It does not include provision of aircraft, flight nurses or neonatal and paediatric retrieval teams.
