Description
As the lead agency for the development and promotion of sport and recreation in Western Australia, the Department of Sport and Recreation (department) is keen to gather information on how sport and recreation are valued and understood within our community across a range of targets (i.e. participants, non-participants, parents, community decision-makers, etc). This information provides a valuable insight into how best the department can shape, promote and target programs, services and information for key stakeholders and client groups.
In 2005, the department commissioned research to develop and administer a survey instrument to establish community perceptions (general public) of a range of sport and recreation issues. In 2008, and again in 2011, this survey was repeated to track any shifts in community perceptions on the same issues and additional questions were included to gauge an insight into community awareness levels of the department’s advocacy initiatives. A summary report produced by the department can be found via the department’s website at www.dsr.wa.gov.au, report entitled “Sport and Recreation – It’s More Than You Think”.
Through this Request the department is seeking the services of a suitable Respondent to undertake a repeat of the 2011 Community Perceptions survey with the general public and analyse as to whether there has been a shift in perceptions, value and understanding of sport and recreation issues across the 2005 to 2014 period.
