Provision of a Groundwater Flow Model for the South West Groundwater Area (Swan Coastal Plains)

This Request details DoW’s requirement for the development of a numerical model to replicate the conceptual hydrogeological model, and to then provide a means of assessing the likely impacts of the varying river flows and various scenarios of scheme and other groundwater abstractions into the future. The modeling work is to be constructed under the Murray Darling Basin Commission guidelines for a complex groundwater model (MDBC, 2000).
The steps in the local scale model development comprise collecting the essential data required for the modelling purposes, reviewing the conceptual hydrogeology and SWAMS numerical model, defining a revised local model architecture, constructing, calibrating and verifying the numerical model, undertaking sensitivity analysis, and producing a comprehensive report on model development and scenario runs.
