Description
The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is considering the feasibility of a passenger railway service from Perth to Bunbury utilising the Mandurah Line between Perth and Anketell, then along the Kwinana Freeway and Perth-Bunbury Highway reserves south to the outskirts of Bunbury at Australind. A joint study by PTA, Department for Planning and Infrastructure, City of Bunbury, the Bunbury Port Authority, Landcorp and Main Roads WA is underway to finalise the route into the City centre of Bunbury from Australind. Initial investigations have been undertaken into various potential route alignments for the section between Lake Preston and Australind. PTA is now seeking suitably qualified and experienced consultants to develop the preferred railway route primarily from Lake Preston to Bunbury.
