Australian Government Department of Defence
Standing Offer Panel for External Service Providers and Project Management and Support Services
Details
Description
Network Infrastructure Development Branch is responsible for capital investment in IT infrastructure and the integration of infrastructure into the Defence Information Environment. As a consequence, NID undertakes a range of tasks associated with strategic planning, procurement, project management, technology evaluation and the sustainment of existing equipment and networks. The infrastructure architecture is multi-layered and complex combining networks, software and hardware.Work activities therefore, are many and varied requiring people with specialist Information Communications Technology (ICT) knowledge and experience. Currently however, NID is unable to meet the demand for all of its services from within its present workforce and relies on support for its operations from ICT Contractors and Professional Service Providers (PSPs).Such people are engaged by using a number of different panels that have been in operation for some time. Two types of Service Providers are being sought under the proposed Panel. One relates to the supply of suitably experienced and skilled ICT professionals and the other to supplying teams or individuals capable of either running or supporting projects in the infrastructure domain. It is likely that recruitment agencies and specialist ICT organisations will have an interest in supplying ICT professionals in response to the requirements listed in Part A of the Statement of Requirement (SOR).While for the requirements in Part B of the SOR, the Business Activity Sets, organisations that specialise in one or more of the fields of work are more likely to show an interest. In summary, NID is seeking to establish two streams of support. One stream relates to promptly filling positions in ongoing operational or line management positions (SOR Part A).And the other stream is to readily obtain teams or individuals that can undertake work that is project in nature with agreed to deliverables or outcomes (SOR Part B).
