MASS 25/7/1 Standing Offer Arrangement For The Trial and Supply of Wheelchairs, Specialised Strollers and Wheeled Walking Aids For Home Use

Offers are invited for entering into a Standing Offer Arrangement for the trial and supply of Wheelchairs, Specialised Strollers and Wheeled Walking Aids for home use, in accordance with the Conditions of this Request for Offer.

A Wheelchair is defined as a device to provide wheeled mobility and body support for a person with limited or no ability to walk. Included are powered wheelchairs, manual wheelchairs and specialised strollers. Stand-up wheelchairs, scooters and basic strollers are excluded.

A Wheeled Walking Aid is defined as a device supporting the user when walking, manipulated by both arms and incorporating hand-grips, four wheels and a seat for resting. Pick up/hopper frames with castor options and therapeutic gait training devices are excluded.

The Standing Offer Arrangement shall be on the account of the Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme (MASS).

MASS provides Wheelchairs and Wheeled Walking Aids to eligible clients of all ages, throughout the State of Queensland, with wide ranging disabilities including (but not limited to) congenital, acquired, neurological and musculo-skeletal conditions resulting in impaired ambulant mobility. These devices are subsidised primarily for use within the client’s home environment.

The selection of a Wheelchair or Wheeled Walking Aid for a client depends on their clinical diagnosis and ability to operate the equipment in their home environment.

This Standing Offer Arrangement is for the purchase of Wheelchairs and Wheeled Walking Aids and will cater for the majority of Wheelchairs and Wheeled Walking Aids subsidised by MASS.
