WA Central Institute of Technology
Provision of Interpreting Services for the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP)
Details
Description
The Central Institute of Technology delivers the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) on behalf of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). Interpreting Services are an integral aspect of the AMEP, which is the Australian Government’s largest settlement program, administered by the DIAC since 1948. The Immigration (Education) Act 1971 provides the legislative basis for the program.
Migrants and Humanitarian Entrants who migrate under certain visa subclasses and do not have Functional English have an entitlement of up to 510 hours of English language tuition, or the number of hours it takes to reach functional English (whichever comes first). Humanitarian Entrants who meet eligibility criteria are also entitled to additional hours through the AMEP’s Special Preparatory Program.
Under the Department of Training and Workforce Development, the Central Institute of Technology is seeking the provision of interpreting services for clients of the Adult Migrant English Program.
