SA Department for Child Protection
P267 - Psychological Assessment Services
Details
Description
Under sections 107 and 110A of the Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017, any person employed in a Children’s residential facility established or licensed by DCP must undergo a psychological assessment of a kind determined by the department. No individual will be employed in a DCP residential care facility without being deemed to be ‘Suitable’ following a psychological assessment process.
Psychological (Suitability) Assessments are a standard part of the recruitment process for Residential Care and relate directly to recommendation 138 of the Nyland Royal Commission.
The department is seeking to establish agreements with one or more approved providers of psychological assessment services for:
- assessment of potential new recruits to ‘in scope’ roles
- assessment of existing DCP staff who have not been through the psychological assessment process
- psychological re-assessment.
