Brown Hill and Keswick Creeks Stormwater Board
Construction of the Area 1 Everard Park Culvert Upgrade
Details
Description
The Brown Hill Keswick Creek Stormwater Project is a collaborative undertaking between the Cities of Adelaide, Burnside, Mitcham, Unley and West Torrens.
Upper Brown Hill Creek comprises 7km of creek located upstream of Anzac Highway to its source in Mitcham. Flood mitigation works in Upper Brown Hill Creek involve increasing the capacity of approximately 1.9km of creek along with the upgrade of specific creek choke points including public and private bridges.
Design plans have been finalised for the section of Upper Brown Hill Creek between Anzac Highway, Everard Park and Third Avenue, Forestville. This section has a length of approximately 140 metres and the existing open channel is to be replaced by an underground covered culvert that is of sufficient size to accommodate the level of stormwater that would otherwise result in flooding in the instance of a 1 in 100 year flood event.
The Board is responsible for delivery of the covered culvert and, thereafter, the City of Unley will be responsible for delivery of the shared use pathway and associated works at ground level.
