Description

Naracoorte Lucindale Council, in conjunction with Wattle Range Council, are calling for Expressions of Interest for the resurfacing the floors of their respective swimming lakes. Naracoorte Lucindale Council’s lake is in Naracoorte with Wattle Range Council’s lake in Millicent.

Both lakes are fully chlorinated pool facilities that are emptied for approximately half of each year. They are both surrounded by concrete walls ranging from ground level to a height of approximately 1.5 metres with lake depths approximately 2 metres.

Naracoorte Lake

The swimming lake at Naracoorte has a floor area of approximately 7,850 square metres.

The current floor has a concave shape and was a natural clay/sand surface until approximately 20 years ago when the surface was “stabilised” with cement using a rotary hoe to a depth of approximately 100mm to form a thin concrete crust on the surface. The surface has been patched considerably since then and has now deteriorated to a point where the entire lake floor requires refurbishment.

Unless a viable option is available to cap the existing floor, Council intends on excavating the natural material to approximately 500mm deep and replacing with geotextile and road base prior to the placement of a new surface. It is also intended that a bitumen emulsion seal will be placed on the base however this can be optional dependent upon the final surfacing selected.

The existing concrete perimeter walls (approximately 300m in length) may also be incorporated dependent on product capabilities and cost.

Approximately seventeen chlorination and water recirculation jets are strategically placed over the floor, which are to remain operational.

Millicent Lake

The swimming lake at Millicent has a floor area of approximately 7,500 square metres.

The current floor has a concave shape and has been formed with approx 150mm of road base and has an aged bitumen emulsion seal surface.

Approximately twenty five chlorination and water recirculation jets are strategically placed over the floor, which are to remain operational.
