WA Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development
Provision of Non-lethal Shark Management Alert in Real Time (SMART) Drumline Services
Details
Description
Following the recent State Government announcement of a scientific trial of non-lethal SMART (Shark Management Alert in Real Time) drumlines, the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) requires the services of an experienced fishing provider to deploy, monitor and maintain drumlines off the Western Australian (WA) coast.
The services include the capture, tagging, relocation and release of target sharks in the Capes region of WA. The drumlines are to be set in specific locations and have a satellite-linked communications unit which is triggered on shark capture. The drumline operator will be required to continually monitor all SMART drumlines and respond within 30 minutes to a notification, and undertake specific tasks.
