Description
The existing PDS within the Sterile Zone around the Frankland Centre is comprised of an array of Photo-Electric (PE) beam-set towers which were installed in 2003 to replace the previous integrated fence and detection system and is now considered to be at end of life due to its age and condition. The existing CCTV system is also at end of life and is due for replacement with new external digital cameras and perimeter surveillance system, with the recommendation that planning be considered to provide cameras and camera poles within the Sterile Zone. This is becoming critical as these systems are now unreliable, inefficient and are expected to performance well below current contemporary standards for a high security facility.
