Shallow Geotechnical Drilling for Pioneer Burdekin PHES - Standing Offer Arrangement

Queensland Hydro are inviting Suppliers to tender for a Standing Offer Arrangement (SOA) for suitably qualified drilling Contractors to perform shallow geotechnical drilling for the Pioneer-Burdekin Pumped Hydro Energy Storage Project (PBPHES).

The Shallow Geotechnical Drilling services are needed to inform the DAR and associated Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for the project, by obtaining data that will identify or inform:

• dam foundations, spillway and intake structures;
• tunnel portals and structures
• earthquake risk;
• slope stability risks;
• possible quarry locations; and
• potential riverbed scour impacts within a short distance downstream of the lower reservoir dam.

Queensland Hydro requires the Contractor(s) on the SOA to perform part of the geotechnical investigations, including the geotechnical drilling of up to twenty seven (27) boreholes to depths of between (on average) 35m to 140m (Works). Some shallower holes may be required.

Queensland Hydro are intending to establish an SOA with a minimum of two (2) suitably qualified Contractors for the delivery of Shallow Geotechnical Drilling services.
