The Western Australian (WA) Defence Industry Internship and Graduate Scholarship (DIIGS) program was approved by the Expenditure Review Committee and Cabinet in March 2022, and announced in the State 2022-23 Budget as part of a package of defence industry workforce development initiatives. The program is expected to commence in quarter 2 2023, and will involve a range of internship and scholarship opportunities for white and grey collar workers to gain exposure to the defence industry. The Department of Training and Workforce Development is seeking to engage a third party organisation to facilitate placements between employers, universities and VET providers, and provide support services.
