Description
As part of its services to customers, the Public Transport Authority provides secure bicycle facilities across the network. Customers are able to ride their push bikes to rail stations and leave the bike in secure bike shelters or lockers, before boarding trains.
One of the primary aims of PTA is to increase patronage on the rail network. By providing a secure and reliable accessible bike shelter at rail stations, customers will be encouraged to ride their bikes to the station and lock them up having faith that the bike will be in the shelter upon their return. The end result is increased patronage on the rail network as well as health benefits to PTA customers.
This contract is for the provision of civil earth works at Bike Shelters consisting of site preparation, electrical and communications cable installation, shelter modification and associated footings and other ancillary works at some 51 sites across the rail network.
The contractor will be expected to undertake:
- Bike shelter pad preparation as required;
- Concrete pad preparation;
- Brick paving as required;
- Provision and installation of buried ducting between bike shelters and a point nominated by PTA;
- Provision and installation of electrical cabling between the bike shelter and the nominated electrical switchboard, including dimensioning to AS3000, all AS3000-required protection devices, labelling, terminations and testing;
- Rotating nominated bike shelter doors to a new orientation, including re-spacing hinges to ensure a close fit including provision of tools, materials, safety signage and suchlike.
- Installation of PTA supplied stainless steel equipment cases within the bike shelters;
- Installation of PTA supplied door furniture;
- Collection of NEW PTA supplied bike shelters from a nominated PTA storage facility and then assemble and install the shelters as required at nominated sites.
- Supply of ‘As constructed documentation” as required by PTA standards.
- Commissioning of each installation.
