Description

The Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC) is undertaking an upgrade of its existing media monitoring capability.

DPC’s Media Monitoring Unit (MMU) currently provides a limited electronic media monitoring service of 11 television and 13 radio station broadcasts to the Office of the Premier and Ministerial Offices. Targeted TV and radio programs from a number of local and regional TV and radio stations are recorded and selected annotated recordings and transcripts are distributed on an ad-hoc basis to appropriate staff.

The electronic media monitoring currently provides separate summaries for radio news bulletins and talkback that are issued to distribution lists within Ministerial Offices on a daily basis, by approximately 8.30am, 12.30pm, 3.30pm and 6.30pm.

Transcripts are generated from the Unit for items considered potentially contentious, plus others as requested by Ministerial Offices.

There are 17 Ministerial offices with approximately 80 staff members. DPC has 25 staff members, and there are another 69 departments/agencies with up to one hundred staff members who need to view this information. Not all staff are in the same location or on the same computer network.

Additionally:

  • An hourly update of radio only news bulletin content is sent to Ministerial Media Advisers; and
  • A limited service is also provided to government departments and agencies that provides daily media summaries at approximately 8.30am and 2.30pm each day, ad-hoc transcripts and a limited schedule of relevant electronic media programme/content from Channel 7, radio 6PR and 720 ABC.
DPC requires the provision of a media monitoring solution with the following attributes/capabilities:
  • A secure cloud-based portal; and
  • TV and Radio capture and print clipping.

Please note: DPC is anticipating that the solution is available as a Commercial Off The Shelf Solution (COTS) requiring minimal configuration and customisation.
