Voluntary Dental Intern Program (VDIP) Curriculum Project

The Voluntary Dental Intern Program (VDIP) will provide participating dental graduates with a structured intern year which will enhance their practice experience and present professional development opportunities.

The curriculum is not limited to a theoretical course of study and could be considered the sum of all the activities, experiences and opportunities, both formal and informal.

The successful tenderer will be required to develop an innovative curriculum to underpin the VDIP, which should provide:

•opportunities for participating dental graduates to build on their typical undergraduate experiences;

•opportunities for participating dental graduates to be exposed to a wide range of clinical experiences;

•theoretical components, including possible continuing professional development opportunities (informal and/or formal);

•appropriate mechanisms for mentors to support participating dental graduates; and

•appropriate mechanisms to enhance the monitoring of and reporting on performance milestones.

The curriculum will be required to be nationally applicable and adoptable and will help guide the implementation of participating dental graduates' placements by the appointed VDIP administrator/s.
