Department of Health undertook an audit of inpatient mental health facilities in 2023 to identify ligature risks within consumer accessible areas, to quantify the outcomes and recommend a course of action to remediate ligature risks. Included in the audit was the Fiona Stanley Mental Health Unit covering the following areas: • General Areas • Adult Unit • Mother and Baby Unit • Youth Unit Remediation of Anti-Ligature fixtures and hardware identified in these areas comprise the following (but not limited to): • Basin Tapware • Grab Rails in Toilets and Showers • Towel/Clothing Hooks • Door Hinges and Handles • Door Closers • Curtain/Blind Cords • Aircon Vents
