Expressions of Interest for Hillarys Boat Harbour ? Public Art Mural

The Maritime area of the Department of Transport (DoT) is responsible for strategically planning for, delivering, managing and maintaining maritime infrastructure. This is to support the management of the coast for the economic and social prosperity of Western Australia.

A Hillarys Boat Harbour Master Plan (HAMP) has been developed to provide a 20 to 30-year vision for HBH and identifies strategies and actions to guide the continued enhancement and revitalisation of this much-loved boating and family friendly destination.

The HAMP will take some time to come to fruition, and the DoT wish to invest in a number of short-term revitalisation projects, including this opportunity to create one or more medium-to-large scale murals at a highly visible site.

The DoT is commissioning a series of applied artworks to existing walls associated with the buildings at 86 Southside Drive, Hillarys. The art works are to be applied to the partially rendered brick walls of the Hillarys Boat Harbour (HBH) Surf Life Saving and ablution/locker building. The murals are a part of a program of works developed to improve the common public areas of HBH.

The overall aim of this work is to visually improve a prominent section of the Harbour, creating a welcoming interesting and visually appealing entrance point, attracting visitors and creating a positive space for social interactions.
